Theory of the Power Supply and design:
A power supply is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electric loads. The term is most commonly applied to devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another, though it may also refer to devices that convert another form of energy (e.g., mechanical, chemical, solar) to electrical energy. A regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value; the controlled value is held nearly constant despite variations in either load current or the voltage supplied by the power supply's energy source.
Design of Power Supply Unit
Description of design:
In the power supply circuit we have used a 12V step down transforamr, which will step down the incoming 220V to 12 V output. Now the transformer output is fetched into the rectifier circuite.this rectifier circuit has been using four diode connected in bridge configure this rectified circuit will finally convert the incoming AC voltage into DC voltage along with some ripples in it, this DC voltage with ripples is taken out of the rectifier circuit and fetched into a capacitor of 1000uf,this capacitor will act like a ripple remove from the DC voltage with ripple removed is fetched into the IC7805 which will step down the 12 volt DC voltage to 5 V DC voltage and two ceramic capacitor of 0.01uf are connected across pin no 1 and pin no 3 of IC7805 (...........).Finally the stepped down DC voltage will be fetched into the load resistance. And the power from the power supply will be taken across this resistance.
