Hardware implementation

Steps involved in Antenna Design

PCB cut into 2 equally sized square pieces.

The dimensions of the radiating patches (also the slots) are drawn on one side of the PCB. The other side forms the ground plane.

The ground plane and the patches (both without and with slots) on the radiating plane is completely covered with nail polish so as to mask their surfaces. It is then allowed to dry overnight.

A solution of anhydrous Ferric Chloride(FeCl3) with water is made and the antennas are soaked in it and left overnight to etch the unmasked surfaces.

Then the mask is removed with spirit. Now we have our ground and radiating patch ready.

Now, to attach the probe we first drill a hole at the calculated feeding point.

Then the female part of the SMA Connector is being inserted in the hole and connections are established through soldering.

The connections are tested using a multimeter. Thus, the proposed antennas are ready.

The return loss readings at every 5MHz are taken with the help of a Network Analyser.
